Can a person with low academics get into IIMs or other top B.schools?

Does Academics Play an Important Role in IIM Admission

There are many students who aspire to pursue MBA from the IIMs, which are the most reputed business schools in India, Among these students, those who does not have a good academic record, like less marks in 10th ,12th and graduation, they used to fear that, whether there low academic record could cause any problem or not in getting admission in top B schools. So in this article we will see that whether bad academics can cause any problem in your IIMs dream or not.

Is academics important to get into IIMs or top B. schools:

So first of all if you have less than 50 percent marks in your graduation then sorry to say but you  cannot appear for CAT, as the eligibility for CAT exam is minimum 50 percent marks in bachelor’s degree. But for those who have more than 50 percent marks in graduation, they are eligible for the exam. But only eligibility is not enough to get into IIMs. Even if you score more than 90 percentile marks in CAT, there is a chance that you will not get any call from IIMs, because IIMs while giving calls considers your CAT score as well as your academics. But the weightage given to the academics and CAT score while giving a call varies in different IIMs and also top Business Schools. Like IIM Indore gives a very high weightage to academics and those candidates who score less marks in CAT but has good academic record, gets call. Also there are IIMs who give very less weightage to academics and give high weightage to CAT score. So those who have poor academics, no need to worry just focus on these IIMs who give less weightage to academics.

IIMs that gives less weightage to academics:

1) IIM Calcutta

2) IIM Lucknow

3) IIM Kozhikode

4) All the baby IIMs

Non IIMs that gives less weightage to academics:

1) FMS Delhi

2) JBIMS Mumbai

So Don’t loose hope, give your best in CAT exam and score a good percentile so that it can compensate your academics.
