Pakistan Has Boycotted The 44th Chess Olympiad Going To be Hosted By India
Pakistan Has Boycotted The 44th Chess Olympiad
Pakistan has
recently boycotted the 44th Chess Olympiad that was supposed to take
place in Chennai in India. India is hosting the Chess Olympiad in which chess
players all over the world will participate. Pakistan has boycotted the event.
In this article we will discuss about the reasons why Pakistan boycotted the
event.
As the torch
in the Olympics is marched for inauguration of the event, in the same way the
torch of Chess Olympiad is also marched in various parts of India including
Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan has objected this thing stating that as according
to them Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory between India and Pakistan,
marching torch of an international event is not acceptable to them and hence
Pakistan Officially called for the boycott of the event.
So does the
Boycotting of the event by the event by Pakistan will have any effect on it.
Well not at all, Pakistan has produced zero grandmaster of chess in its entire
history and chess is not very popular in Pakistan. So rarely anyone plays chess
in Pakistan. No other country other than Pakistan has called for the boycott of
the event, not even its close friend China.
Also there
is another reason for the boycott of the event by Pakistan, it is its internal
politics. If the Pakistan government doesn’t oppose India in every now and
then, then the government might loose public support and eventually they might
end loosing the election. So it becomes very important for Pakistan to oppose
India in every matter.
