Is USA a Declining Superpower? And Can China surpass USA as The Global Superpower?

Well looking at the recent events, like the war in Afghanistan and The Ukraine war, it makes us think that is USA still the only superpower of the world? And also could China overtake USA and become the biggest power in the world? Well in this blog we will study it in detail.

Until the world war 2 the only superpower in the world was the British Empire, after the end of world war 2 in 1945, the British empire was completely devastated and destroyed, It had become so weak that it could not be called a superpower anymore and as the British empire declined, two new countries emerged as superpowers, these two countries were USA and the USSR ( Soviet Union). USA followed capitalism and Soviet Union followed communism, they were ideological adversaries of each other. The world soon turned into a dipolar world with USA as the one pole and USSR as another pole. And that led to start of a cold war between USA and USSR, but after the collapse of the USSR in 1991, the USA remained the sole economic and military superpower in the world. The world turned into a unipolar world with only one superpower, the USA, But now we are observing that USA has started declining as a superpower.

USA has now started staying away from conflicts and power projection around the world, we can say this by looking at recent two incidents, First the humiliating pull out of USA from Afghanistan after 20 years of long war, then the Ukraine Russia war. In both the cases USA has shown reluctance and unwillingness to get involved. These incidents raise questions on USA’s superpower status.

Now lets come to China, well China is giving a tough competition to USA both economically and militarily but it is not yet a superpower and is not at all capable to challenge USA as of now, but in future China can surpass USA both economically and militarily and become the biggest power in the world, but it has long way to go.

Even if China surpasses USA militarily, it will be hard for China to challenge USA economically as the Dollar of USA is considered as a standard currency for trade, almost every country uses dollar for trade, even China has a huge  foreign exchange reserve of US dollar, so even if not a military superpower, USA will remain an economic superpower for at least few decades more.
